Build to frighten or to charm the castles of Europe, but not limited to are simply imposing. Their number is countless and each of them is unique. I've made a hobby from visiting and photographing them...

On the water-edge of Lake Geneva near Montreux, this 12th century castle is one of the most important touristic attractions of Switzerland. Build both as a fortress controlling the ancient passage from France to Italy and a princely residence facing the blue waters of Lake Geneva, it consists of 25 building units, oldest of them dating back to the first millennium. In the background are the majestic peaks of Dents du Midi, a mountain range in the Swiss Alps reaching 3257m altitude.
