Chateau de Chenonceau, near the village of Chenonceaux in the Loire Valley is said to be the most visited castle in France after Versailles. The castle itself was build in 1521 on the site of a former mill transformed into a manor, but suffered many improvments during its life, like the bridge extension, build and covered in several stages.
