I frequently visit Japan. The most recent visit to Japan was during the winter holidays of 2011-2012, and most of the pictures from this gallery date back from that period or from the 2009-2010 visit. They mostly cover Tokyo area, but not restricted to.

Narita-san Shinsho-ji (Narita Mountain New Victory Temple) is one of the greatest temples in Kanto area around Tokyo in Japan. It belongs to Shingon Buddhist sect and contains a vast complex of buildings and grounds. It is dedicated to Fudo Myoo (or Acala), the fire-god Unmovable Wisdom King. Nio-mon Gate (Protector's Gate) is among the oldest original surviving building in the complex (1830) and declared an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Dramatic angle from inside the temple grounds on a hill overlooking the Narita city. HDR image.
