Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) is the most famous representative of the carnivorous plants that catches and digests animal prey (mostly insects and arachnids). Each leaf of the plant is terminated in a trap, which is triggered by tiny hairs on its inner surfaces. The plant is very small and naturally can be found only in a small geographical area of North and South Carolina in United States of America. They are very popular as cultivated plants, but have the reputation of being difficult to grow.
