* Bio

My name is Mihai-Bogdan LAZĂR. I was born in 1980 in Reşiţa, Caraş-Severin, Romania. I started photography while in Tokyo (back in 2004) as an atempt to share my experiences with my friends and family. Along, I’ve developed my desire to travel and experience new places.

I am currenlty living in Lausanne a city in the french speaking part of Switzerland on the shores of Lake Geneva, while I am following a PhD course in mechanical engineering at EPFL (Ecole Politechnique Federale Lausanne).

* Equipment

I have started photography with using compact cameras: the first one Canon Ixus 5MP and later on Canon Powershot G7. Many of the images displayed on this website were taken with these cameras. In 2008, I have joined the D-SLR users group by buying a Canon 450D. Not being pleased with the performance of the kit lenses, I have invested in a Tamron 17-50mm/f2.8 as a high-quality general use lens for travel photography. Recently, I have upraged the camera to Canon 500D (15 MegaPixels) and aquired a macro lens: Canon EF-S 60mm/f2.8 USM Macro. To render High-Dynamic-Range (HDR) images, I am using a software called Photomatix.

* Images

My main photographic intrest consists in travel photography (city scenes, twilight, landscapes etc.). In particular, I love visiting castles, hence I have a serious collection of "chateau"-s, mostly from Europe, but not limited to. I have also started using HDR technique (High Dynamic Range images with tonal mapping) and a gallery is curently dedicated to this field. I am currently attempting to perfect myself in the domain of macro photography.

You can buy royalty-free licenses (suitable for most personal and commercial uses) of almost all images here through the links provided in each image description, from any of 3 micro-agencies I am in collaboration with (Dreamstime, IstockPhoto and Shutterstock).
